Common questions
How do I know if I can get nbn?
Enter your address on the nbn page. You do not need an account. We show which speeds your address can get before you order.
How long does nbn take to connect?
Usually 1 to 2 business days if your place is already connected to nbn. On switch day your internet can drop out for a short while as nbn moves the service across, so avoid planning a big video call then. If nbn needs to send a technician, we tell you the appointment window first.
What do the speed numbers mean?
They are the plan speed tiers, for download and upload. What your address can actually receive depends on its nbn technology, which the address check confirms. Each plan’s Critical Information Summary has the detail.
What is an AVC ID and where do I find it?
Your AVC ID identifies your current nbn service. It is "AVC" followed by 12 digits, like AVC000123456789. Find it on a bill from your current provider, usually near your internet details, or in their online account. If you cannot find it, ask them for it. It helps us switch the right service when an address has more than one. Have it? Email it to us with your order reference. On an Opticomm estate the equivalent is called an OAC ID. After the switch you get a new AVC ID from us.
Are there setup or connection fees?
No exit fees, ever. Some nbn addresses or order types have a one-off connection charge from the network. If one applies, the amount is shown before you pay.
